Two approaches to identification of fracture surfaces in the problems of ma
thematical simulation of the processes of high-speed interaction of elastop
lastic bodies are suggested. On the basis of these approaches, solutions to
the problems of projectile penetration into semi-infinite targets, split a
nd shear fracture of finite-thickness plates are presented. The results of
numerical simulation are compared with experimental data, and a good agreem
ent both in the final parameters and in dynamics of the process is obtained
