Dj. Jones et S. Bowler, THE LINK BETWEEN A PARTICIPANTS PERCEPTIONS OF TRAINING AND SUBSEQUENT LEVELS OF APPLICATION, Journal of alcohol and drug education, 42(2), 1997, pp. 53-68
Parr of a larger evaluation, this study explores the relationship betw
een participants' perceptions of substance abuse prevention trainings
and their subsequent application of these trainings. Using a stratifie
d sampling technique, 76 participants were selected and interviewed po
st-training. The majority of participants (98.7%) gave favorable compo
site assessments of the trainings. More than half of participants' pos
ttraining substance abuse-related prevention activities represented hi
gh and medium level results. Chi-square yielded significance at the p
< .01 level for two variables- ''composite participant perceptions of
the training'' and ''preparation for mobilization.'' The findings supp
ort the hypothesis that learning application is influenced by the lear
ner's perception of the quality and usefulness of the training.
