Abstract
The tert-butyl substituted compounds of gallium have been synthesized and c haracterized: [(Bu-t)(2)Ga{mu-OCH(CF3)(2)}](2) (1), [(Bu-t)(2)Ga(mu-O2CEt)] (2) (2), [(Bu-t)(2)Ga(mu-O2CCF3)](2) (3), [(Bu-t)(2)Ga{mu-OC(Ph)N(H)}](2) ( 4), [(Bu-t)(2)Ga{mu-OC(Me)NPh}](2) (5), (Bu-t)(3)Ga[OC(Ph)NMe2] (6), (Bu-t) (3)Ga[OP(Ph)(2)NH(Pr-n)] (7), (Bu-t)(2)Ga[ON(H)C(O)Ph] (8), [(Bu-t)(2)Ga{mu -O2S(CF3)O}](2) (9), (Bu-t)(2)Ga(mu-Cl)(2)Li((HOPr)-Pr-i)(2) (10), and [Li( (HOPr)-Pr-i)(4)][(Bu-t)(2)GaCl2] (11). X-Ray crystallographic characterizat ion was obtained for compounds 1-6 and 8-11. Compounds 10 and 11 exhibit th ree-dimensional hydrogen bonded networks in which augmentation of the O-H . .. Cl hydrogen bond is proposed to be due to the increased acidity of alcoh ols bonded to the Lewis acidic lithium ions. A discussion of the dependence of the puckering of the chair-like conformation in eight-membered cyclic c ompounds of the Group 13 metals is presented.
