Sd. Sharma et al., Reversed-phase thin-layer chromatography of some d-block metal ions on unconventional supports in complexing acid media, J PL CHROM, 12(6), 1999, pp. 440-445
The reversed-phase thin layer chromatographic behavior of twenty d-block me
tal ions has been studied on unconventional supports with complexing acid m
edia as mobile phases. The effect on R-F values of addition of talc to othe
r adsorbents was significant when oxalic and succinic acid media were used
as mobile phases. Admixture of talc with starch proved very useful in effec
ting a number of analytically important metal-ion separations. The mechanis
m of migration is explained in terms of adsorption and complex Formation. T
he effect of the pK of the acids used as mobile phases is discussed, as als
o is the effect of the metal complexes formed on R-F values.
