Abstract
The present study evaluates the presence of oxidative stress in the uncontr olled diabetic state. Glycemic control reduced the oxidative stress, but to tal normalization of the parameters of oxidative stress was not achieved, i ndicating continued oxidant injury despite optimal control of the diabetes, Vitamin E supplementation for 4 weeks in these patients further reduced th e oxidative stress, suggesting that vitamin E supplementation might be help ful in reducing free-radical-induced oxidant injury, Copyright (C) 2000 by W.B.
