Abstract
Raman spectra of the liquid phosphines P(CH3)(3), P(CH3)(2)Ph, P(CH3)P h-2, and of PPh3 as polycristalline powder and in solution have been r ecorded. Vibrational assignments are given for the phenyl groups and d iscussed. A normal coordinate analysis of trimethylphosphine has been undertaken which allowed to confirm the assignments of the methyl grou ps and the PC3-core and to discuss the vibrational behaviour.
