Abstract
The Bi-2212 thin films of the Bi(2)Ln(0.3)Ca(2.7)Cu(2)O(z) system (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd) have been prepared by the laser ablation method. The fi lms are of metastable Bi-2112 phase, which has not been synthesized by the solid state reaction method. The highest zero resistivity temperature (T-cz ) of 57 K has been found for the film with Ln = Pr, and the valence of Pr d etermined by XPS measurement was trivalent. Further, each of the films with various Ln elements had a T-cz value higher by 12-45 K than the correspond ing sample of the bulk Bi(2)Ln(0.5)Ca(2.5)Cu(2)O(z) system. (C) 2000 Elsevi er Science B.V.
