Abstract
The E2-transition probabilities are calculated for high-spin states in the ytterbium isotopes Yb-160,Yb-164,Yb-168 by projecting out exact angular mom entum states from cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (CHFB) intrinsic wave fun ctions. It is shown that the projected CHFB theory describes reasonably wel l the overall trend of the experimental B(E2) values along with spin, exhib iting their substantial reduction in the band-crossing region.
