Cross sections for the Ti-44(alpha, p)V-47 reaction which significantly aff
ects the yield of Ti-41 in supernovae were measured in the energy range 5.7
MeV less than or equal to E-c.m. less than or equal to 9 MeV, using a beam
of radioactive Ti-44. The cross sections and the deduced astrophysical rea
ction rates are larger than the results from theoretical calculations by ab
out a factor of 2. The implications of this increase in the reaction rate f
or the search of supernovae using space-based gamma detectors are discussed
