Abstract
The needles of several yew species and cultivars were analysed by high-pres sure liquid chromatography for paclitaxel, 10-deacetylpaclitaxel, cephaloma nnine, baccatin III, 10-deacetylbaccatin III and brevifoliol. About 750 sam ples were collected from five different locations in the Netherlands and th e UK. The results of this screening show a large variation in taxane conten t between the different species and cultivars. The content of paclitaxel an d 10-deacetylbaccatin III varied from 0 to 500 mu g/g and 0 to 4800 mu g/g dried needles. respectively. Brevifoliol was found Deacetylpaclitaxel, ceph alomannine and baccatin III were found needles. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science L td. All rights reserved.
