European Union legislation, and existing national legislation of many Europ
ean countries, mandates thar manufacturer take back and recover their elect
ronic and electrical equipment. If manufacturers are to comply with legisla
tion, models need to be developed for these activities. Whilst infrastructu
ral al and technological deficits exist and must be addressed, so too must
the organization of recovery, from a business perspective. In this paper, m
odels of resource recovery are presented and a case study described.
