Abstract
This note gives a brief summary of the targeting results obtained with both adjoint and quasi-inverse linear NCEP global spectral models during the Fr onts and Atlantic Storm-Track EXperiment (FASTEX). Questions concerning the feasibility of the methods and related issues about targeting observations are briefly discussed.
