Erythrocyte antigens and peculiarities of antiinfectious resistance, E
. B. Zhiburt, N. B. Serebryanaya, A. I. Ionova, E. V. Trofimenko, V. V
. Dyakova, Military Medical Academy, St, Petersburg, Russia. Prevalenc
e of antibodies to cytomegalovirus and toxoplasma has been investigate
d among 515 blood donors. Specific IgG antibodies have been detected i
n blood by ELISA. Difference of seropositivity in respect to red blood
cell phenotype (blood group system ABO and D-antigen from Rhesus syst
em) has been evaluated. Among young men in North-West of Russia 3/4 ha
ve antibodies to cytomegalovirus and 1/3 have antibodies to toxoplasma
. Antibodies to cytomegalovirus are detected in persons with blood gro
up O (I) about two times more frequently (85.4%) than in persons with
blood group AB (IV) (47.7%). The proportion of seropositive to toxopla
sma persons with blood group AB (IV) (54.8%) two times exceeds one amo
ng donors with blood group O (I) (25.2%). Determined relations between
antiviral and antiprotosoan resistance with blood group erythrocyte a
ntigens must be accounted in clinical and preventive medicine.
