Synthesis and characterization of some penta-coordinated complexes of oxovanadium(IV) with N-isonicotinamido-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzalaldimine and N-isonicotinaminosalicylaldimine

The present work presents the synthesis and the characterization of twelve penta-coordinated complexes of VO2+ with N-isonicotinamido-4-hydroxy-3-meth oxybenzaladimina (INH-VAN) and N-isonicotinamidosalicylaldimine (INH-SAL). The complexes have the general formulae VOX2. nL (X = Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3- or NCS-, n = 1; XClO4-, n = 2; L = INH-VAN or INH-SAL). The IR data reveal th e bidentate natura (O, N) of the ligand. The probable coordination number o f the central metal ion is found to be five. Thermal stabilities of the com plexes have been studied through thermogravimetric analysis.
