Abstract
Thermodynamic analysis and experimental research of the chlorination of nic kel ferrite (NiFe2O4) by gaseous chlorine in the presence of added C, BaS, S and NaCl in the temperature range from 300 to 900 degrees C are given in this paper. Nickel ferrite chlorination in the presence of BaS and CaCl2 wa s carried out in the temperature range from 750 to 950 degrees C. The prese nce of added C, BaS, S and NaCl intensifies the chlorination process of nic kel ferrite by gaseous chlorine and reduces the temperature the reaction be gins at from 700 to 300 degrees C. It is concluded that the process of nick el chlorination without additives is chemically controlled, whereas it is d iffusion controlled in the presence of additives. The chlorination of nicke l ferrite by calcium chloride, i.e., gaseous hydrochloric acid, is intensif ied in the presence of 7.5 mass % of CaCl2 and 2 mass % of BaS in nickel fe rrite, and temperature range from 750 to 950 degrees C. The results obtaine d in thermodynamic analysis are in good agreement with the experimental one s.
