SURFACE-ANALYSIS BY NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING TECHNIQUES

Nondestructive testing (NDT) goes beyond the determination of geometri cal, physical, and chemical as well as technological parameters. In ad dition to this, measuring results are compared with predetermined valu es so that quality features can be tested. Specific NDT-methods suitab le for surface analysis like eddy current testing, Barkhausen noise me asurements, ultrasonics,and atomic force microscopy are discussed. Fur thermore, the contrast mechanisms, the resolution and their applicatio n in NDT are presented.
