Abstract
The determination of the weight per unit area (''coating weight'') of phosphate layers on galvanized steel by means of FT-IR-spectrometry ha s been performed by three different techniques: (i) principal componen t regression (PCR) of absorption data, (ii) utilizing the thickness de pendent wavenumber shift of a band due to a special optical surface ef fect observed with parallel-polarized radiation and (iii) of an interf erence band observed with perpendicular-polarized radiation.
