Surface analytical methods such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM),
electron dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and X-ray photoelectron spe
ctroscopy (XPS) were used to study the surface properties of several n
oble metal casting alloys which are used as core materials for fixed p
rosthodontics. In particular surface morphology, surface segregation,
and oxide formation were studied as the key parameters influencing the
adhesion properties between alloy and ceramic veneer.
