The applicability and synthetic potency of novel reagent, 2-aryl-1,1-dicyan
o-3-(phenylsulfonyl)propenes 3 to develop an expeditious convenient synthet
ic route of unique polyfunctionally substituted carbocyclic and heterocycli
c sulfone systems is reported. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence for the
structures of the newly synthesized compounds are described. Some of the ob
tained compounds wen tested for their antimicrobial activity.
