Abstract
The statistical characteristics of near-bottom currents based on the d ata of long-term measurements in the Russian shelf zone of the Black S ea are analyzed. The role of near-shore eddies on the regime and varia bility of near-bottom currents is shown. The possible influence of nea r-bottom pollutions is indicated. The characteristic spectra of near-b ottom currents for different regions of the Russian near-shore zone ar e presented.
