This paper gives a detailed account of the pottery "chaine operatoire" amon
g Mambila of Northwest Cameroon. The data were collected during two field s
easons - in 1991 and 1992 - as part of a systematic research program on pot
tery technology in several Bantu and Bantoid populations. Six Mambila potte
rs have been observed and interviewed, whose technical behavior is decribed
for each step of the manufacturing process. These data are the first avail
able so far for this part of Cameroon.
