We calculate collision strengths and thermally averaged collision strengths
for electron excitation between the forty energetically lowest levels of F
e13+. The scattering calculation is mc,re complete than any previous work o
n this ion and significant differences are found in the excitation rates fo
r many of the extreme ultra-violet (EW) transitions, compared to earlier wo
rk. A detailed comparison is made between predicted line intensity ratios a
nd those observed in solar coronal spectra which shows that several outstan
ding discrepancies are resolved by the new atomic data.
