Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a synthetic self-assembling molecular capsule are described. The originally designed flexible molecule 1 was col lapsing on itself, forming hydrogen bonds within monomer rather than formin g a dimer due to the flexibility of the central diimide. A more rigid syste m 23 was designed and synthesized. The preorganization of this molecule for dimerization led the system self-assembling molecular capsule successfully .
