A new method named peptizing-gelation method was used to synthesize Ti-Si d
ioxide composite, whose surface area is above 1 000 m(2)/g, The character o
f this method is that Ti exists in the form of ion and ion cluster during t
he hydrolysis of Si(OC2H5)(4). This is the progress on the cohydrolysis of
Si(OC2H5)(4) and Ti(OC4H9)(4). During the calcination of gelation, Ti-O-Si
was formed with Ti element in the situation of SiO2 crystal cell. This is c
onfirmed by FT-IR analysis, Ti-Si dioxide composite with Ti molar fraction
of 13. 1% is mainly in the form of amorphous based on XRD analysis, which r
eveals that Ti-Si dioxide composite is uniform in structure, Furthermore, e
xtra Ti element presents on the surface layer of Ti-Si dioxide composite ex
amined by Raman and EES analysis, Owning to these two characters, Ti-Si dio
xide composite prepared by peptizing-gelation method becomes a good catalys
t in the field of catalysis.
