Abstract
The effects of single-ion anisotropy and different sublattice transverse fi elds on the critical properties of the mixed Ising spin system on the squar e lattice are investigated within the framework of an effective field appro ximation. For certain values of the system parameters, tricritical points a nd reentrant phenomena can be observed, due to the competition between the different transverse fields and single-ion anisotropy. We present a detaile d description of the phase diagram.
