Abstract
This survey reviews the literature on the economic determinants of mil itary expenditure and the economic foundations of armament and disarma ment. It considers the main economic effects of military expenditure a nd disarmament in developed and developing countries, including impact s on consumption, investment, growth, employment, inflation and the ba lance of payments.
