The crystal structure of the new ternary boride CePt2B2-x (x=0.7), space gr
oup C222 (N21) a=3.1648(3) Angstrom, b=5.4799(5) Angstrom, c=7.8840(4) Angs
trom, Z=2, V=136.730(1) Angstrom, rho=6.570 g cm(-3), mu:=590.1 cm(-1) was
refined to R=0.0517, wR2=0.0969 from single crystal X-ray diffraction data
and to R-F=0.0796, R-B=0.0735 from X-ray powder diffraction data. This is t
he first representative of a new structure type of intermetallic compounds.
