Abstract
Racial conservatives often cite low self-esteem and lack of personal ambiti on as prime reasons why so many blacks drop out of college or don't enter c ollege in the first place. Firm beliefs in similar racial stereotypes cause many conservative commentators to pass over very large economic reasons th at are staring them in the face.
