Thiothixene . 2HCl forms three different hydrates on exposure to water vapo
ur. These have been characterised by X-ray powder diffraction. The dehydrat
ion reaction of the monohydrate follows the first-order rate law with E-a =
125(22) kJ mol(-1). The dehydration of the tetrahydrate follows a complex
mechanism. The crystal structure of the methanol solvate of thiothixene . 2
HCl has been elucidated. It is monoclinic, P2(1)/c, a = 18.870, b = 7.018,
c = 21.913 Angstrom, beta = 105.622 degrees.
