The nu(1) bands of the Br-79- and Br-81-isotopomers of BrNO2 (nitryl bromid
e), located around 7.7 mu m (1294 cm(-1)), were recorded using high-resolut
ion Fourier transform spectroscopy. Rotational and centrifugal distortion c
onstants for the ground and nu(1) = 1 states of (BrNO2)-Br-79 and (BrNO2)-B
r-81 were determined from over 4500 transitions between 1280 and 1310 cm(-1
). No rotational resonances were observed. The results confirm and improve
the ground-state constants determined in a previous study of the nu(4) band
s of BrNO2 around 6 mu m (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
