Abstract
We have measured the electron momentum density in both insulating PrBa2Cu3O 7-delta and superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-delta. We find a remarkable differenc e in the anisotropy of the momentum density, even though LDA based calculat ions predict similar behaviour for both. Our results can be explained assum ing Pr on Ba-site substitution disorder and we propose that this phenomenon is responsible for the observed effects. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
