Abstract
A numerically generated expression to determine crack length in a compact t ension specimen from back-faced strain compliance is presented. The numeric ally generated back-faced strain expression is bounded by two experimentall y determined expressions previously published in the literature. Additional ly, stress intensity factor and crack-mouth opening expressions are determi ned. These expressions agree well with previously published results.
