Abstract
Sarcomeric or striated muscle myosins are the molecular motors whose fine t uning is best known. Sarcomeric myosin isoforms convert chemical into mecha nical energy at very different rates without losing efficiency. Availabilit y of the amino acid sequences offers for the first time the chance to under stand the molecular basis of the versatility of these molecular motors.
