Abstract
Wavelength conversion and signal regeneration are realized simultaneously b y employing a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM). The experiments demonst rate that the NOLM has strong regenerative capability when it is used as wa velength conversion media. Proper choice of the initial state of the polari zation controller in the NOLM can enhance the extinction ratio of the conve rted signal. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
