Polarization-selective diffractive phase elements for implementing polarization mode selecting, color demultiplexing, and spatial focusing simultaneously
J. Liu et al., Polarization-selective diffractive phase elements for implementing polarization mode selecting, color demultiplexing, and spatial focusing simultaneously, OPTIK, 111(2), 2000, pp. 49-52
We present the designs of polarization-selective diffractive elements (PDPE
's) that achieve the selection polarization modes, the demultiplexing of wa
velengths, and the focusing of the individual polarization mode with differ
ent wavelengths at the predesignated positions on the output plane. The des
ign scheme is based on the general theory of amplitude-phase retrieval and
iterative algorithm. A set of equations far determining modulation depths d
istribution of the surface-relief PDPE is presented. Several model designs
of the PDPE's are carried out in the one-dimensional case. The numerical re
sults show that the proposed approach can achieve satisfactorily the releva
nt design of the desired PDPE's. It is expected that this new approach will
provide another useful tool for designing the PDPE's in micro-optical syst
ems.
