For diagnostic ileography, the authors developed balloon-occluded endoscopi
c retrograde ileography and performed 77 studies in 36 consecutive patients
with Crohn disease. Balloon-occluded endoscopic retrograde ileography prov
ed to be useful in visualization of minute mucosal lesions such as aphthous
ulcers and lymphoid hyperplasia in the dis-tal ileum, and satisfactory ile
ographic images of Crohn disease were obtained in 54 (70%) studies.
