Abstract
On the basis of x-ray structural examinations and a determination of the si gnal parameters in resonance electromagnetic-acoustic (EMA) transduction, a long wit certain magnetic and electric characteristics of heat-treated high -carbon steels U8 and ShKh15, it is shown that the emf of the EMA signal de creases linearly as the distortions of the crystal lattice epsilon increase . The resonance frequency f also decreases monotonically as the microscopic distortions increase, but the f(epsilon) curve exhibits prominent features associated with the variation of the phase composition and structural stat e of the steels in heat treatment.
