Abstract
A new method is designed for analyzing free oscillations under Hopf bi furcation. Unlike in the conventional methods, there is no need to con struct integral manifolds in the new algorithm; thereby stability anal ysis is simplified and simple explicit stability and instability crite ria are derived.
