Abstract
The title molecule, C17H10N2O2, is a synthetic precursor to the cytotoxic m arine alkaloid ascididemin and is also structurally related to cleistopholi ne, a plant-derived antifungal agent. The molecule was found to be essentia lly planar with the only significant deviations from planarity being for th e quinone O atoms.
