B. Schneider et al., MULTIPLE GIANT FIBROADENOMAS - CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND RADIOLOGIC FINDINGS, Gynecologic and obstetric investigation, 43(4), 1997, pp. 278-280
We describe the case of a 25-year-old Caucasian woman suffering from u
nilateral enlargement of the breast. Morphologic evaluation of various
imaging modalities including mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic re
sonance imaging suggested a benign tumor embedded in stromal tissue. T
he time course of the Gd-DTPA uptake in dynamic magnetic resonance ima
ging, however, was also compatible with a malignant lesion. Postoperat
ive pathological examination revealed multiple giant fibroadenomas, a
rare disease, usually encountered in black female adolescents. Radiolo
gic presentation, differential diagnosis, and morphologic findings are
discussed, and a review of the literature is contained heroin.
