K. Schultz et al., Three years of experience with a modularly structured training programme for patients with a respiratory allergy, ALLERGOLOGI, 22(4), 1999, pp. 223
Patient education is considered to be an essential part of asthma therapy.
A "modularly structured education programme" contains customised supplement
ary modules for special patient groups in addition to providing general tra
ining for asthmatic patients. The following article reports about the exper
ience with a modularly structured education program for allergic patients.
In addition to the general programme, patients with a clinically relevant r
espiratory allergy underwent the additional allergy training programme, whi
ch consists of a basic knowledge module and 3 optional training modules (ho
usedust mites, pollen, animals, molds). Thus, for each patient a customised
training program is available. Special attention is spent on training prac
tical knowledge and skills. The results of an evaluation show the effective
ness of the programme.
