Abstract
We describe a novel technique to prevent the displacement or migration of a newly implanted stent as a consequence of any subsequent catheter and shea th manipulation during the same catheterization procedure. The technique in volves reinflation of the dilation balloon within the stent immediately aft er implant followed by advancing the long delivery sheath carefully over th e balloon as the balloon is slowly deflated within the stent. The technique was used successfully in 78 stents in 30 patients without stent dislodgmen t or migration. (C) 2000 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
