H. Mori et al., Novel application of a solid super acid, sulfated zirconia, as a catalyst for Koch carbonylation reaction, CHEM LETT, (2), 2000, pp. 136-137
A solid superacid, sulfated zirconia, worked well in the Koch reaction. Und
er optimized conditions, tertiary alcohols were selectively transformed to
the corresponding carboxylic acids (33-72%), while primary alcohols were tr
ansformed to the corresponding ethers (58-72%).
