The evaluation of experimental results by methods of mathematical stat
istics enabled us to derive a number of conclusions on the leachabilit
y of vitrified radioactive wastes. Practical application of this a pro
cedure requires that the ratio of Na and K concentrations in the solut
ion should be independent of the leaching time. The actual value of th
is ratio is influenced, above all, by the properties of the glass matr
ix. These results confirm the assumption that the Na/K correlation fou
nd could be extended for the determination of the Na/Cs-137 concentrat
ion ratio. This finding was used for the application of a In-In correl
ation, while evaluating the quality of vitrified radioactive wastes pr
oducts.
