Abstract
Recumbency is a common presenting problem in New World camelids and can be the primary clinical sign of gastrointestinal, respiratory, metabolic, neur ologic, musculoskeletal, and septic diseases. Complications associated with recumbency, however, may present a greater problem than does the actual ca use of recumbency. Abnormalities of electrolytes and serum biochemistry are frequently observed in recumbent llamas and alpacas.
