Abstract
Two comparative clinical studies were carried out in rheumatic patients tak ing nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in order to assess the eff icacy of dosmalfate vs. misoprostol, the reference gastroprotective drug, i n the prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers. Dosmalfate proved to have a similar efficacy compared to misoprostol in preventing gastric damage in the rheumatic patients studied and was very well tolerated. (C) 2000 Prous Science.
