In the past hundred years, the map of psychic disorders has undergone a sig
nificant change in composition, one of its dominant aspects the change in e
mphasis from hysteria as a representative of neurosis to borderline persona
lity disorder. The authors suggest that the process by which the borderline
personality has taken the center of the psychiatric and psychoanalytic sta
ge in recent years is the result of changes that have taken place both in t
he structure of society and in human behavior. This study tries to better u
nderstand the possible dynamics that influenced and tuned such changes, as
well as the significance of this for the next generation.
