Within the human structural milieu therapy, developed by Gunter Ammon, the
mostly unconscious constructive dimensions of the personality are used to d
evelop and encourage relationships to other patients and the therapists. Th
e project work of the milieu therapy can be understood as a "third object"
used as a focus for contact and relations among each other. The group dynam
ic process moderated by the therapists enables each patient to find his spe
cific position. By this, specific developmental and integration processes a
re encouraged. This process is exemplified by the authors in a case study o
f a patient, with a diagnosis of borderline dissocial personality disorder.
