Abstract
A robust quantiser design for image coding is presented. The proposed quant
iser can be viewed as the combination of compound of a quantiser, a Variabl
e length code (VLC) coder, and a channel coder. Simulation results show tha
t our proposed scheme has a graceful distortion behaviour within the design
ed noise range.
