Abstract
Temperature-independent 80 Gbit/s optical time-division-multiplexed signal transmission using a 168km zero-dispersion-flattened transmission line has been successfully demonstrated over a 50 degrees C temperature rang. The te mperature-coefficient of the average dispersion of the transmission line wa s 1.2 x 10(-5) ps/nm/km/degrees C while that of a conventional dispersion-s hifted fibre was 2.1 x 10(-3) ps/nm/km/degrees C.
